Polystyrene Foam Container Ban in American Samoa

BIO: Kacey Nicole Iloilo has served as a deputized enforcement officer at the American Samoa Environmental Protection Agency (AS-EPA) since 2018 alongside two colleagues and is committed to the protection of American Samoa’s natural resources with a focus on the enforcement of solid waste regulations. In this capacity, Kacey has been instrumental in initiatives to include the Keep American Samoa Beautiful (KASB) antilitter campaign, the territory’s government initiative of the Island Wide Cleanup Committee, efforts to modernize the islands’ solid waste infrastructure to support recycling, and most recently, the passage and enforcement of Public Law 38-12, commonly known as the “Polystyrene Foam Container Ban.” In 2019, Kacey helped to establish the nonprofit organization, Finafinau, which is geared towards empowering local youth through environmental ambassadorship and community service.
