Building Community Resilience Through Home Composting and Local Food Production: Lessons from Guam’s Zero Waste Initiative

Michelle Crisostomo, GSC

Michelle Crisostomo is the President and Co-founder of Guåhan Sustainable Culture, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing food sovereignty and sustainable agriculture in Guam. She is also the owner of Tiny Greens Guam, a microgreen farm that supplies fresh produce to local restaurants and educates the community on sustainable farming.

Michelle currently serves as Chair of the County Committee for the USDA Farm Service Agency, where she helps ensure local farmers have a voice in federal farm programs. She is also a member of the Women’s Business Center Committee under the Guam Women’s Chamber of Commerce, where she previously served on the board for five years.

With a Business Management degree from Webster University, Michelle is a strong advocate for women’s leadership and sustainable food systems. Through her work, she continues to support Guam’s farming community, promote self-reliance, and advance local food security.
